RUSSELLVILLE – Local and area officials are preparing for the 30,000 additional jobs expected to enter north Alabama with an average $81,000 annual salary by uniting to present their industries and businesses opportunities to partner with the nation‚Äôs military headquarters–the Redstone Arsenal in Madison County.

Major General Jim Myles, commanding general at Aviation and Missile Command, was special speaker to over 200 mayors, council and municipal government leaders at the A.W. Todd Center Thursday, Aug. 13, informing them there is a bright light in these dark economic times by encouraging industries and businesses to seize an economic development opportunity made possible by the Base ReAlignment and Closure Act.

Winston County Road 9 Widening, Resurfacing and Adding of a Third Lane

COOPERATIVE DISTRICT РWidening, resurfacing, and the addition of a third lane for turning onto Alabama Highway 13 has been completed on to Winston County County Road 9.  This road work was in part made possible through a $125,000 grant secured by Senator Roger Bedford through the Alabama Department of Community and Economic Affirs (ADECA).  The remainder of the project was funded through a portion of the Cooperative District bond issue secured in June 2008. 

Construction continues on Lots 10 and 11 of the Winston County industrial park located within the Cooperative District.    Plans are underway to secure a grant to fund landscaping and beautification work at the intersection of Winston County County Road 9 and Alabama Highway 13.
