CNBC recently featured Exxel Outdoors of Haleyville, Alabama as an economic success story because it is bringing jobs back from China. Exxel Outdoors founded in 1996 is a privately held company which currently has approximately 30% of the US sleeping bag market.  Exxel Outdoors employees approximately 115 employees earning an average wage of $14 per hour plus health and other benefits.

Harry Kazazian, CEO of Exxel Outdoors, shared his company through investing in technology can produce a sleeping bag 3% cheeper than it can be produced in China. He futrther shared that Exxel Outdoors now has the most efficient sleeping bag production facility in the world.

RUSSELLVILLE – Local and area officials are preparing for the 30,000 additional jobs expected to enter north Alabama with an average $81,000 annual salary by uniting to present their industries and businesses opportunities to partner with the nation’s military headquarters–the Redstone Arsenal in Madison County.

Major General Jim Myles, commanding general at Aviation and Missile Command, was special speaker to over 200 mayors, council and municipal government leaders at the A.W. Todd Center Thursday, Aug. 13, informing them there is a bright light in these dark economic times by encouraging industries and businesses to seize an economic development opportunity made possible by the Base ReAlignment and Closure Act.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (EDPA) – The Cooperative District of Winston County has received AdvantageSite designation.

The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard data related to ownership/control, environmental and geotechnical conditions, and infrastructure status.
